What A Star!

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon was supported by James Potter Eggs, The University of York, City of York Council, the Yorkshire Post, BBC Look North, BBC Radio York, Lucozade, Runner's World, Run247.com the ASDA Foundation and Marathon Talk.
Water provided by the ASDA foundation were located at eight stations on the course

The marathon stands as part of the lasting legacy of the late fundraiser and campaigner Jane Tomlinson who raised almost £2m for charity by tackling a series of epic challenges, including cycling over 4,000 miles across America, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

This popular and picturesque run - flatter and faster than London, Paris, Chicago and Berlin - takes participants past some of York's splendid historic sites and along scenic country lanes, making it an attractive prospect for runners of all abilities.

Welcome to YORK!
With a consistently flat and extremely fast course - The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon highlights the very best of York and the North Yorkshire countryside. Entering the city walls through Walmgate Bar and enjoying the bustling atmosphere along Parliament Street before passing through St. Helen's Square. Immersing one self to an impressive architecture such as The Mansion House and the famous Betty's tea rooms before catching first glimpse of the imposing York Minster. Then leaving the city walls via the ornate Monk Bar and speeding on through mile upon mile of flat landscape around the Vale of York and the pretty villages and towns of North and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The crowds, supporters & marshalls were absolutely amazing!
